3.9.2012 – I am added on the Dora The Explorer Score roster!!
By George, on March 9th, 2012

- This is definitely the biggest story of 2012 for me and I am so excited to become the next scoring composer for the ground breaking kids show, ‘Dora The Explorer.’
- The producer that I write all the songs for on the show knew that I had a history of scoring animations with shows like ‘Toddworld,’ and ‘The Mummy,’ and she also knew that I wanted in on ‘Dora’ to score. The problem is that the formula they have had over the years has worked for them and they already have 3 scoring composer for the show. Well, it turned out that all of their composers were working on other things which gave me this great opportunity. I ended up scoring season 7′s Thanksgiving show. As you can tell from some of my scoring in the kids section of Gabrielmusic.com, I have a diverse scoring style that on the surface doesn’t sound like the Dora you all know. That was one of the reasons they hired my 3 years ago. They wanted the more modern ‘pop’ sound like I created for Disney’s ‘Kim Possible,’ and songs for that series and other animated series. So this was my opportunity to score one of the most watched kids shows on the planet.
- They gave me some direction, but also allowed me to use my creative chops where I felt necessary. The result? Complete success – not only were they “very happy,” but called the score, “really really wonderful,” and said, “it’s just really charming.” They also liked how I pushed ‘Dora’ into scoring areas she never ventured in with a warm and crisp and “cinematic” sound. I was also the fist composer in 7 seasons to score ‘The Map’ section. I thought it needed score – they didn’t tell me I couldn’t – turns out no one ever scored that section and guess what? They loved it and have now decided to score it from now on! Anyway, it was a great shot at Dora and they are so pleased that it looks like I will be scoring quite a bit of the new season 8. Very exciting! For more on my Dora music - go to gabrielmusic.com.
